I still remember the first time I heard a folktale. It was during my childhood, on a rainy evening when the power had gone out. With no television or mobile phones to distract us, my grandmother gathered us around and began to tell a story one that would stay with me forever. It was the tale of "The Clever Rabbit and the Cunning Lion."
In the story, a lion ruled the jungle, demanding that the animals bring him food each day, or he would hunt them. The animals, terrified, obeyed him until one day, a small rabbit was chosen to face the lion. Instead of being afraid, the rabbit used its wit. It tricked the lion into believing there was a stronger lion in the forest by showing him his reflection in a well. Furious, the lion jumped into the well, never to return, and the animals were free.
At first, I was simply fascinated by the magical world of talking animals and thrilling adventures. But as I grew older, I realized the deeper meaning hidden within the tale. It taught me that intelligence and courage could defeat even the most powerful threats. Being small or weak on the outside does not mean you lack the strength to overcome challenges.
Since that day, the story has stayed with me. Whenever I face difficulties, I remind myself that like the rabbit, I can rely on my mind and inner strength. It also changed the way I view problems not as impossible obstacles, but as puzzles that can be solved with patience and creativity.
